Avenged Sevenfold - City Of Evil (2005)

City of Evil é o terceiro álbum de estúdio da banda estadunidense de Metal Alternativo, Avenged Sevenfold,lançado em 7 de junho de 2005 pela Warner Bros. Records. Este álbum é o primeiro da banda com o estilo hard rock, diferentemente dos dois álbum anteriores em que o gênero marcante era o metalcore, onde o vocalista, M. Shadows gritava excessivamente as letras das músicas. O trabalho na guitarra e nas canções também é mais técnico e em um estilo mais metal. Algo como no álbum Turbo da banda Judas Priest, causando polêmica entre os fãs mais antigos, que rotularam a banda como “vendidos”, devido à sua novo som. Por outro lado, o álbum da banda ganhou muitos fãs novos que eles não que eles não poderiam ter tido com o seu som antigo. Tem-se rumores que a verdadeira razão por trás da mudança de estilo e por causa do vocalista M. Shadows que teve problemas em suas cordas vocais embora a banda negue. O álbum foi certificado com “disco de ouro” em janeiro de 2006 e classificado 63º em outubro de 2006, pela revista “Guitar World” na lista dos 100 maiores álbuns de guitarra de todos os tempos. A música Bat Country foi escrita em homenagem ao escritor e repórter Hunter S.Thompson. O nome da música vem da página dezoito do terceito capítulo do seu livro Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas, onde Raoul Duke diz: We can't stop here. This is bat country. O riff da música Beast And the Harlot foi eleito um dos melhores riffs da história pela revista Total Guitar.
