Killers, lançado em 1981, é o segundo álbum do Iron Maiden, o primeiro a contar com o guitarrista Adrian Smith, e o último do vocalista Paul Di'Anno que saiu da banda por uso de cocaína e álcool. Foi ainda o primeiro álbum do produtor estreiante Martin Birch, que produziu todos os álbuns do Iron Maiden até 2002. Esse álbum foi caracterizado pelo uso de duas guitarras, e suas letras foram compostas quase que exclusivamente pelo baixista Steve Harris. A versão norte americana do álbum foi lançado alguns meses depois da versão inglesa. Foi lançada pela Harvest Records/Capitol Records e depois pela Sanctuary Records/Columbia Records. Ainda foi adicionada a música "Twilight Zone". A música "Murders in the Rue Morgue" foi baseada na história de mesmo nome de Edgar Allan Poe. "Rue Morgue" é uma rua ficcional em Paris que em português significa "Rua da Morgue". O álbum foi relançado em 1998 junto com um CD bônus.

Esse álbum foi lançado originalmente em 1959 pela Checker Records, um selo da Chess Recors, e traz na capa uma foto de Don Bronstein de um mendigo deitado na calçada. Algumas resenhas que li especulavam que seria algum artista da Chess, abandonado.
Boatos à parte , esse disco contém algumas das músicas mais conhecidas e famosas de Sonny Boy Williamson (Rice Miller), o meu gaitista favorito. A banda que gravou com ele era toda formada por artistas da Chess e tinha grandes nomes como Fred Below (bateria), Willie Dixon (baixo), Lafayette Leake (piano), Robert Jr. Lockwood (guitarra), Eugene Pierson (guitarra), Jimmy Rogers (guitarra), Otis Spann (piano), Luther Tucker (guitarra) e Muddy Waters (guitarra).
As músicas que merecem destaque são "Don't Start Me To Talkin' " que já foi regravada por vários artistas, entre eles Junior Wells, "Cross My Heart", um slow blues profundo, em que sua gaita parece chorar, "I Don't Know", e "Bye Bye Bird".

Instrumental: A obra é composta de trechos narrados intercalados com trechos cantados e com os solos de Rick Wakeman. Com auxílio de uma orquestra, além do coral, nos arranjos, Wakeman tem liberdade para solar com seus sintetizadores, o que faz da obra um espetáculo a parte pela performance do mago dos teclados.
Curiosidades:
- Foi o primeiro álbum da A&M a ser gravado no sistema quadrifônico (quatro canais);
- Em 1999, Rick Wakeman lança "Return to the Centre of the Earth" que conta a história dos aventureiros tentando repetir a viagem de outrora;
- A obra original está disponível em DVD na gravação realizada no Sidney Myer Music Bowl em Melbourne, Austrália, em 1975.
"Journey to the Centre of the Earth" é uma apresentação realizada no Royal Festival Hall em Londres no dia 28 de janeiro de 1974, inspirada na obra do escritor francês Júlio Verne, famoso por publicar as primeiras obras literárias de ficção científica.
Dizem que Rick Wakeman precisou vender muitos de seus pertences e inclusive hipotecar sua casa para financiar os gastos com a gravação. Devido ao pouco orçamento, não pôde ser editada em estúdio. Alguns trechos que não ficaram bons da versão original tiveram de ser cortados, pois não seria viável custear toda a orquestra para regravar os trechos. Por isso, há alguns "furos" na história.
Mesmo depois de gravado, a gravadora A&M britânica não teve interesse em produzir a obra. Wakeman convenceu a A&M americana a faze-lo. A venda do álbum rendeu milhões de dólares em seis semanas.
Letra: Baseada no livro "Viagem ao Centro da Terra" (Voyage au centre de la Terre) de Júlio Verne, publicado em 1864. Conta a história de Axel, um jovem alemão, sobrinho do Dr. Otto Lidenbrock, geólogo que decifrou um manuscrito de um alquimista islandês e constatou que ele fora ao centro da Terra. Axel e seu tio partem para a Islândia e lá contratam um caçador chamado Hans para guia-los na jornada.
