Desconhecia esse tributo antes de ler em um site que o Dave Meniketti (Y&T) havia feito uma versão para "Night Prowler"... Corri atrás e terminei por conhecer um disco que apesar de curto, é vigoroso do começo ao fim. "Thunderbolt" reúne vários artistas diferentes tocando alguns dos maiores clássicos do AC/DC - uns mais fiéis às gravações originais, outros nem tanto. Entre os astros que compõe o tributo estão Dee Snider (Twisted Sister), Lemmy Kilmister (Motörhead), Sebastian Bach (Skid Row - esse em dose dupla) e Joe Lynn Turner, o estepe do Hard Rock. No fim das contas, a versão de Dave Meniketti para "Night Prowler" acaba comendo poeira para "Highway To Hell" tocada pelo Quiet Riot ou para "Whole Lotta Rosie" na voz de Stephen Pearcy (Ratt). A curiosidade nos leva longe e, no meu caso, me levou a esse álbum absolutamente maravilhoso - eis um tributo digno e merecido à uma das bandas mais importantes de todos os tempos!!!

Em meio à enxurrada de tributos caça-níqueis que assolou a cena nos últimos anos, temos aqui um grande exemplo de homenagem honesta, feita por artistas que realmente tiveram influência do Deep Purple em suas carreiras. É até difícil citar algum destaque em especial, mas Ritchie Kotzen (pra variar) manda ver uma versão cheia de suíngue para “Rat Rat Blue”. Memorável. Paul Gilbert também deixa sua marca em “Maybe I’m a Leo”, com um andamento mais lento. E Malmsteen encarna seu grande ídolo Richie Blackmore, destruindo tudo. A banda de apoio, que aparece em todas as faixas, dispensa apresentações. Quem é fã do Purple e/ou dos envolvidos nessa empreitada, pode baixar sem medo. Garantia de qualidade.
