A transição da década de sessenta para a de setenta foi também um período de transição para o rock and roll. Começam a sair de cena as belas melodias e a psicodelia do fim dos anos 60 e começa a entrar o peso do Hard Rock. E quando se fala de peso, se fala de Grand Funk Railroad. O power trio americano ficou mundialmente conhecido justamente por conseguir fazer um som com muito peso, mas ao mesmo tempo de extrema qualidade. E uma característica marcante da banda é que conseguia passar toda a energia que possuia para os discos de estúdio. Prova disso são os primeiros discos da banda, em especial o Closer To Home, o Grand Funk, mais conhecido como Red Album, e o já postado nesse blog E Pluribus Funk. Mas se no estúdio a banda já era explosiva, imagine então ao vivo. Bom, pra que imaginar quando você pode escutar. O Live Album é um ótimo registro disso. O álbum é uma reprodução exata do que acontece nos show, sem remixagem, sem overdub ou nada do tipo. É aquilo ali, muita energia, muito peso, muito rock and roll. O álbum trás canções de sucesso do grupo como "Are You Ready?", "Paranoid" e "In Need". As ótimas "Heartbreaker" e "Mean Mistreater" são duas baladas "enganosas", já que vão ganhando peso e acelerando até explodir no melhor estilo Grand Funk. O ponto mais alto vem com os quase 14 maravilhosos minutos de "Inside Looking Out" um dos maiores clássicos do grupo.
Se depois de baixar este disco, por algum motivo você não puder aumentar muito o volume, deixa ele aí guardado. No momento certo ponha o som no talo e o coloque pra tocar! Não vai se arrepender. Garanto!
